Privacy Legal Expertise
Morgan Leftwich is Ethics and Privacy Counsel at the Public Interest Privacy Center (PIPC), which has partnered with WestEd on the DISC project. In that capacity, Morgan assists in providing student privacy technical assistance and trainings, stakeholder alerts, creating resources, and legislative analysis, including supporting DISC’s federal privacy laws and regulations working group. Morgan also serves as the Project Director of the Student and Child Privacy Center at AASA, The School Superintendents Association.
Morgan primarily focuses on researching and writing about proposed legislation related to child and student privacy and providing privacy technical assistance to local and state education agencies, education researchers, state and federal policymakers, and data advocacy organizations.
Prior to joining PIPC and AASA, Morgan worked with PIPC President Amelia Vance as a student and child privacy consultant. Morgan is a member of the Virginia State Bar and a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
