This session introduces Tribal Data Sovereignty, emphasizing Tribal Nations as public health authorities and their critical role in managing and protecting community data. Participants will explore the foundational principles of Tribal Data Sovereignty, and the unique role Tribal Epidemiology Centers (TECs) play in data collection, integration, and analysis. The session will also address barriers Tribes face in accessing data from health departments, including legal, systemic, and jurisdictional challenges, and discuss strategies for overcoming these obstacles.
